Linear Line Space Meshing For Light Fields

A general mesh type for representing the light field of a three-dimensional scene of (directional) diffusely and specularly reflecting surfaces, and anisotropically diffuse light sources is presented. The light field is represented by a piecewise linear function. The mesh emerges as a product of surface cells, but is more adaptive than the usual regular product meshes. Adaptivity is achieved by allowing hanging nodes on which the radiance is interpolated without cracks where continuity is required, and by hierarchization. Zusammenfassung Es wird ein allgemeiner Netztyp zur Repräsentation von Lichtfeldern einer dreidimensionalen Szene von (gerichtet) diffus und spiegelnd reflektierenden Oberflächen sowie anisotriopisch diffusen Lichtquellen vorgestellt. Das Lichtfeld wird durch eine stückweise lineare Funktion repräsentiert. Das Netz entsteht als ein Produkt von Oberflächenzellen, ist aber stärker adaptiv als übliche reguläre Produktnetze. Die Adaptivität wird durch Hierarchisierung sowie das Zulassen von hängenden Knoten erreicht, auf denen die Strahlung bruchfrei interpoliert werden kann, wo Stetigkeit benötigt wird.
